The UGM Group and the NSW Mines Rescue Service have jointly developed the ‘Work Safe – Work Ready’ advanced underground mine induction program to begin to address the skills shortage in the mining industry.
The ‘Work Safe – Work Ready’ program including theory, virtual reality and practical components is a first for the underground mining industry and combines the resources, technology and experience of the NSW Mines Rescue Service, an internationally recognised provider of mine training and rescue services, with the UGM Group, a leading provider of underground mining services in the NSW and QLD coalfields with over 650 employees.
At the recent NSW Minerals Conference (Hunter Valley) the program was ‘launched’ by Paul Healey (Mines Rescue GM) and Grant Case (UGM COO) with a presentation to over 100 mining delegates. UGM's Brad Phillips and Daryl Nott manned the Work Safe – Work Ready stand with Mines Rescue Service representatives. The presentation and the stand attracted wide interest from NSW, QLD and international mining houses. We hope to be in a position to announce an open day soon.
